Rutgers Alumni Leaders Conference 2011

Thank you to those of you who were able to participate in this inspiring and energizing weekend!

On October 14 and 15, more than 90 of Rutgers’ most actively engaged alumni attended the Rutgers Alumni Leaders Conference. Those in attendance included Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA) Board members, leaders of RUAA chartered alumni organizations, at-large Council members, RUAA committee members, Alumni Relations staff, and other friends of the RUAA.

It was also an honor to welcome many special guests to the event who supported and applauded alumni efforts. These special guests included members of President Richard L. McCormick’s cabinet, university vice presidents, senior leadership of the Rutgers University Foundation, and student leaders.

“Best  Practices” showcased six fantastic alumni volunteers who shared their experiences and examples of what has worked well for them. Topics include:
  • Rutgers Alumni Day of Service
  • Sharing Your Success
  • Creativity and Innovation: Sustaining Your Organization
  • Legions in the Regions
  • Maximize Your Bandwidth to Engage Professional Alumni and Fulfill Your Mission!
  • Our Rutgers, Our Future
Each presentation is posted and archived for you to download, review, and share.

A dynamic and interactive leadership development session was led by expert leadership development trainer, Sherrie Tromp GSNB’80. As the associate director for the Rutgers University Center for Organizational Development and Leadership, she shared insights and led alumni leaders through exercises that aided in the understanding of your leadership style and becoming a more strategic communicator.

This year’s conference also included an exclusive session with Coach C. Vivian Stringer, coach of the Rutgers women’s basketball team, who answered questions about building a successful program, overcoming adversity, and leading to inspire others.
