Committees of the Rutgers University Alumni Association will consist of members of the RUAA Board, the Alumni Leaders Council, and, where necessary and appropriate, individual graduates of Rutgers University. Committee members serve at large, serving the demographic, organizational, and operational needs of the individual committees, the RUAA, and Rutgers University. While supporting the goals and mission of the RUAA, committee members play a meaningful and important role in the development of a sustainable and vibrant alumni organization and structure that serves all graduates of Rutgers University.

Alumni Leaders Council Committee
Chair: Christine Tiritilli DC'92
The Alumni Leaders Council Committee of the RUAA is responsible for reviewing and recommending chartered groups to the RUAA Board, as well as monitoring the chartering process to ensure its success. The committee is also responsible for the annual Alumni Leaders Council meeting, and developing volunteer training and orientations. In partnership with the staff, serves as the main point of contact between the leaders of individual alumni groups and the RUAA Board.
Volunteer Role
Utilize business and volunteer experience to advise the RUAA and the University’s alumni relations department on volunteer needs.
The committee is an integral part of planning the annual Alumni Leaders Council meeting. Working with their staff partners, the group will work on selecting and recruiting featured speakers and setting the annual meeting agenda.
Throughout the year, the committee will monitor the needs of the alumni groups, and work with the Director of Volunteer Development to recruit volunteers and develop volunteer orientation and training meetings.
On behalf of the board, help ensure that sound policies, practices, and monitoring mechanisms exist for chartering alumni groups as recognized affiliated groups of the RUAA and Rutgers University.
Responsibilities

Review annual volunteer goals and strategies, and provide guidance.

Monitor program changes and issues and provide advice and support.

Maintain an overview of Volunteer policies, procedures and initiatives and offer advice and guidance.

Review the past performance of RUAA volunteer initiatives against metrics, goals and standards and make recommendations to staff for continuous improvement.

Advise the RUAA Board on recommendations and methods to increase the number of chartered alumni groups.

Organize the structure for the RUAA’s annual Alumni Leaders Council meeting.

Attend the annual Alumni Leaders Council meeting and help facilitate the logistics of the meeting.

Recommend policies to the RUAA Board and Alumni Relations staff concerning the development and implementation of volunteer initiatives.

Alumni Programming Committee

The Alumni Programming Committee of the RUAA is charged with partnering with Alumni Relations staff to ensure diverse and effective programming is available to all Rutgers alumni in an effort to keep them engaged and educated about their alma mater.
Volunteer Role
Utilize event or volunteer experience to advise the alumni relations department on its event calendar, including evaluating current events and recommending new ones that will serve the diverse alumni body of Rutgers University.
The committee will also partner with staff to maintain a comprehensive event evaluation process that will make sure University goals are being met by each event on the calendar.
Responsibilities

Awards and Recognition Committee

The Awards and Recognition Committee of the RUAA is charged with awarding and recognizing alumni efforts on behalf of RUAA and the University. This committee will partner with AR staff to ensure that consistent and effective recognition is given to Rutgers alumni for their successful achievements in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to, professional success and volunteerism. This committee will play a lead role both in developing and evaluating the process by which alumni are selected for RUAA awards such as the Hall of Distinguished Alumni, and in specifically selecting those honorees.

The committee is an integral part of the planning process for the Hall of Distinguished Alumni, a volunteer recognition selection process and event, and the development of new alumni recognition opportunities and programs.
On behalf of the board, partner with staff to ensure that sound policies, practices, and monitoring mechanisms exist for the process by which awardees are selected.
In conjunction with staff, faculty and administration, evaluate and present to the RUAA Board recommendations for alumni honors, such as the Hall of Distinguished Alumni and volunteer recognition.

The Communications Committee of the RUAA is charged with partnering with AR staff to set the communications plan for the RUAA and to ensure that consistent and effective messaging is sent to Rutgers Alumni keeping them informed and educated about their alma mater.
Volunteer Role
Utilize business experience to advise the University’s alumni relations department on branding, public relations, fee-for-services marketing, advertising, and e-marketing.
The committee is an integral part of the communications planning process, including public affairs advocacy, and a vital resource in the delivery of all alumni messaging.
On behalf of the board, help ensure that sound policies, practices, and monitoring mechanisms exist for managing the communications interests and issues of the RUAA and Rutgers University Department of Alumni Relations.
Responsibilities

Regional Clubs Committee

The Regional Clubs Committee of the RUAA is charged with reviewing and recommending actions that will enhance the organized regional activities of alumni groups in a variety of geographic areas. The committee will also partner with AR staff to ensure that the Regional clubs are informed and educated about their alma mater, and that the specific concerns and challenges of the clubs be kept at the forefront of RUAA discussions.
Volunteer Role
Utilize business experience to advise the University’s alumni relations department and its volunteer Regional Club leaders on programming that will engage alumni away from campus.
Advise Regional Club leaders in such areas as communication, advocacy, recruitment and event management.
On behalf of the board, help ensure that sound policies, practices, and monitoring mechanisms exist for managing the diverse group of Regional Clubs around the world.
Responsibilities

Review annual Regional Club goals and strategies, and provide guidance.

Maintain an overview of Alumni Relations issues and offer advice and guidance to ensure Regional Clubs activities support and enhance University objectives.

Review the past performance of Regional Club activities against goals and standards and make recommendations to staff for continuous improvement.

Assist in the creation of new Regional Clubs both in New Jersey, around the country, and internationally.

Advise the staff and Regional Club leaders on recommendations and methods to promote their clubs and activities.

Assist the AR staff in developing and implementing standard Regional Club policies, procedures and templates.

Play an active role in planning and attend the Regional Club Leaders Conference, held in conjunction with the annual Alumni Leaders Council meeting.
