Run for RAH at a Glance:   

  • Timed, USATF sanctioned 5K race (Timing company: CompuScore)
  • 1-Mile Fun Walk

The Cause:  


The Homecoming 2013 Run for RAH 5K and 1-Mile Fun Walk marks the Rutgers University Alumni Association’s 5th annual race event in support of Rutgers Against Hunger! RAH is a university-wide initiative working to increase awareness of hunger, encourage activism and service to tackle hunger, stimulate research to assist those in need, and provide immediate relief through food drives and other events to raise money and collect food.

Proceeds from Run for RAH 2013 will benefit The Middlesex County Food Organization and Outreach Distribution Services (MCFOODS). MCFOODS collects and distributes nonperishable items at no cost to over 80 local food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the County as well as residential facilities, shelters, social service agencies, programs for women and children, senior citizen housing facilities and other outreach services.

Registration Fees:  

ALL pre-registered participants will receive a Run for RAH t-shirt. Walk-in participants are welcome to a shirt while supplies last!

Pre-registration: (must be received by 10/23/13)
5K Race: $20 ($18 USATF-NJ Members)
1-Mile Fun Walk: $15

Race Day Walk-in Registration:
5K Race: $25 ($23 USATF-NJ Members)
1-Mile Fun Walk: $20

(A portion of the registration fee is deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes to the maximum extent allowed by law.) 

Donate:  

We are suggesting that each Run for RAH participant try to raise at least $50 towards our $10,000 fundraising goal. To donate to a team or an individual, go to the Run for RAH DonorDrive and click “Donate To This Event”.

Not in the area, or don’t know anyone participating in the race? You can STILL help us make a difference in the lives of New Jersey families. Donate to our YouGiveGoods.com fundraiser and see just what your money is buying for people in need. 


Team Contests:  

Create a team for your friends, family, co-workers, or RUAA chartered organization! Run for RAH is a great opportunity to get a group together to support a good cause and have some fun on Rutgers campus. Starting or joining a team is simple – just follow the instructions while registering online!

Prizes will be awarded to winning teams of the following categories:

Most Team Members
Team members can be runners, walkers, or volunteers! Get the biggest group together to take home this prize!

Top Fundraisers
Ask your friends, family, and co-workers to support you by donating to your fundraising page! The Run for RAH DonoDrive site makes giving and tracking donations safe and easy!

Top Food Collectors
Host a food drive for non-perishable items or collect amongst yourselves and bring them with you on race day!


Event Schedule:  

6:00 a.m. Volunteers Set Up (there will be coffee!)
8:00 a.m. Registration and exhibitor area open
9:00 a.m. 1-Mile Fun Walk
9:30 a.m. 5K Race
10:30 a.m. Refreshments/Door Prizes/Awards
12:00 p.m. Event ends


Location and Parking:  

Run for RAH begins and ends outside the North Gate of High Point Solutions Stadium located at 1 Scarlet Knight Way, Piscataway NJ, 08854. Free parking will be available in the “West Lot” next to the stadium (the Scarlet Lot on game days). View map here.

Run for RAH 2012:  

Despite the impending hurricane, Run for RAH 2012 was a huge success, raising more than $6,000 and 600 pounds of food for hungry families in our community!
