Annual St. Patrick's RiverLINE Cultural Tour

Date: 3/10/2012

Riverline TourSince 2003, Rutgers alumni have explored the historic sites of many southern New Jersey towns along the Delaware River. This year’s tour takes us to Roebling for an un-drenched do-over! We have been rained out previously and missed the city’s historic riches.

The cost is $24 per person, which includes Irish breakfast, Irish coffee, snacks, train fare, parking, gifts, tours, drink specials, discounts, and more!

This year we start at the Campus Center for registration and an authentic Irish breakfast, Irish coffee, music, and live entertainment, and then we'll be off to the Cooper Street Riverline Station adjacent to the campus to begin this year's excursion to Roebling.

We will be collecting non-perishable goods for the RAH initiative. For each can or container you will receive an extra raffle ticket. Check out pictures from last year’s RiverLine event here.

Alumni will have three options when arriving at the Roebling station:

1) Roebling Museum Tour: Located in the historic village of Roebling, New Jersey, the museum presents the story of the engineering genius of John A. Roebling, the Roebling family, the company town of Roebling, and the technological innovations and products produced by the company that shaped the industrialized world. Alumni will watch an introductory film on the Roebling family and the company, and enjoy a tour of the galleries. Appx. 45 minutes

2) Roebling City Tour:  Roebling is a city with a wealth of history. This is the walking tour of the historic village where all 767 original homes built for Roebling Steel and wire workers still stand. We will see a variety of workers homes. The Roebling Company built 15 different housing types, along with a general store, drug store, hospital, bank, and an auditorium that seated 900 and was centrally air-conditioned in 1915. Appx. 1 hr. 15 min.

3) The Avenue: Go directly half a block from the Roebling station to The Avenue where we start the fun before we head south to the next stop.
