RUAA Board of Directors

The Board of the Rutgers University Alumni Association has authority over the affairs of the RUAA. The Board partners with the Department of Alumni Relations in the core functions of the department to further the goals of the mission of the RUAA.

At the RUAA Alumni Leaders Council Annual Meeting on June 7, 2012 the the council ratified the vote for the 2012-2013 slate of the Rutgers University Alumni Association (RUAA) Board of Directors. The new board members are listed below, and their terms began on July 1, 2012.

Biographies

 Nikita Desai Nikita Desai DC’01 obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 2001. While at Rutgers, she founded and presided over the Douglass College Model United Nations and co-founded the South Asia Performing Artists (SAPA) organization. She was also a member of the Rutgers Model UN team, as well as All Children's Charity Association (ACCA). She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to attend the Instituto de Empresa Business School in Spain and graduated with an MBA in December 2008. She is the Senior Program Officer in the Global Policy Studies and Initiatives Division Asia Society in New York. Nikita is a native of India and speaks two Indian languages in addition to Mongolian and English.

Robert Eichert Robert Eichert RC’78, a practicing attorney, is a resident of Edison. A Rutgers University trustee emeritus, Bob has also served as president of the Rutgers Alumni Association (RAA), RUAA Reunion Committee, and President of the Rutgers University Alumni Bands Association. He has received the university’s Meritorious Service Award and the RAA’s Loyal Son of Rutgers award. In addition to his service to Rutgers, Bob has been active in his community and recognized for his service to the Board of Education, as a scout leader, and as a soccer coach.

 Timothy Farrow Timothy Farrow CLAW'99 resides in Collingswood, NJ, and is currently a Partner/Attorney at Law with Dash Farrow LLP. Among his many Rutgers University alumni activities, he currently serves as Treasurer of the RUAA and Chair of the RUAA Alumni Benefits Committee and is a past Chair of the RUAA Awards and Recognition Committee and Committee on Nominations. Tim also served as Chancellor of the Rutgers Camden Law Alumni Board.

 Glen Gnirrep Glenn Gnirrep RC’82, GSNB’89 is a seasoned human resources and change management executive with over twenty years of industry experience, and is also a former president of the Rutgers University Alumni Federation. Glenn was a member of the President’s Task Force on Alumni Relations and on the Implementation Team. He has served on various RUAA committees, including the Awards and Recognition Committee, and has served as a board member for the RAA as well as his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Glenn, a resident of North Brunswick, also volunteers at other organizations within his community; he is the Treasurer of the Bayard Street Presbyterian Church and also works with his fraternity’s undergraduate chapter at Rider University.

 Shawn Golhar Shawn Golhar RC’01, a resident of New York City, is currently a vice president in the government policy and finance group at Barclays Capital Inc. He has served the RUAA as a member of the Alumni Leaders Council since 2009, and serves as a class correspondent for the class of 2001. He is also actively involved in planning and fundraising for his class’s 10 year reunion and has served as his class’s vice president since 1998. He is committed to a number of charitable causes, including his role as a founding member of New York Needs You, a nonprofit organization that helps first generation college students by providing career development and leadership training programs. In addition to his Rutgers degree, Shawn also holds an MA in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

 Maurice Griffin Maurice Griffin NLAW'94, who previously served as the corporate secretary of the RUAA, has been a member of the board since 2008 and served as the first Treasurer of the RUAA. In his capacity as corporate secretary, Maurice also serves as chair of the Alumni Leaders Council Committee. Under his leadership, the RUAA has grown to include 115 chartered organizations. Maurice works as a lawyer for the state of New Jersey, and also holds a BS in physics from Southern University.

 Ken Johnson Kenneth Johnson ENG'66 is a retired Aerospace Executive who resides in Cranbury, NJ. Among his many Rutgers University alumni activities, he serves as an officer and current Board Member of the Rutgers University Alumni Association, as Chair of the RUAA Alumni Leaders Council Committee, as the incoming President of the Rutgers Alumni Association, as Past President and Board Member of the Engineering Society, and as Chair of the Advisory Board for Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. Ken is a 30-year member of the RU Loyal Society, and in 2007, he was inducted as a Loyal Son of Rutgers.

 Harold Kaplan Harold Kaplan RC'57 resides in Orlando, FL, and is currently Chairman and CEO of United Financial Group, Inc. Among his many Rutgers alumni activities, he serves as a member on the Regional Clubs Committee and is President and Founder of the Rutgers Club of Central Florida. Harold was also inducted as a Loyal Son of Rutgers in 1996 and has been a class correspondent for Rutgers Magazine for 50 years. He was also awarded the Scarlet Tee Award for recognition of support of Collegiate Golf at Rutgers University in 2000.

 Joe Lemkin

Joseph H. Lemkin RC’90, a partner at Duane Morris LLP and a resident of Plainsboro, has been active with Rutgers in various ways since his graduation. In addition to his Rutgers degree, Joe earned his JD from the Hofstra University School of Law in 1994. An executive board member of the Touchdown Club for the last 10 years, Joe has served as Club president for the last four years. He has also been a part of the football Hall of Fame committee and in the athletic department’s annual Knights of Networking event. Joe has also volunteered extensively with his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. Joe is a member of the RUAA’s Awards and Recognition Committee.

Anthony Marchetta 

Anthony Marchetta RC'71, GSNB'78, RBS'83 resides in Princeton, NJ, and is currently the executive director of the New Jersey Housing & Mortgage Finance Agency. In that capacity, he is also a member of the New Jersey Coalition on Affordable Housing (COAH). Among his many Rutgers alumni activities, he served on the University Senate and as Chairman of the RUAF Government Relations Committee. Anthony also served on the Rutgers University Alumni Association Implementation Committee and is a member of the Bloustein School Alumni Association.

 Jennifer O'Neill Jennifer O’Neill DC’95, SCILS’95,‘03senior manager of corporate communications at Intuit, has been actively involved in the Rutgers community near and far since graduation. Over the past 17 years, she has held a variety of leadership positions with the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College, including class secretary, class president, and board member. A past treasurer of the SC&I Alumni Association and former president of the Rutgers Club of San Francisco, Jen serves on the RUAA Alumni Centers Committee and Charter Group Relations Committee. She lives in New Brunswick in the heart of the College Avenue Campus.

 Salim Patel Salim Patel UCN’04, RBS’04 is a senior financial analyst for Aeropostale, and serves as the Commissioner for the Passaic Board of Education. He is a founding board member of the Rutgers University Muslim Association and chair of that group’s undergraduate committee, as well as a mentor for undergraduates and a frequent speaker at student events. An active member of his community, he is the chair of the board of the Smile Organization, a social service organization aimed at uplifting downtrodden communities, and the founder of the Islamic Center of Passaic County Emergency Food Pantry.

 Katty Rivera Katty Rivera LC’04, GSE’09 is a Residential Program Manager for a countywide psychiatric vocational rehabilitation program at SERV Behavioral Health in Mercer County. She currently serves on the Alumni Leaders Council Committee. She is one of the leaders of the Rutgers University Latino Alumni Association and is a steering committee member for Elección Latina at Rutgers University Center for American Women in Politics. As an undergraduate, she was involved with many on campus organizations including the LASO (Latino Student Organization) and Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Incorporated- Epsilon Chapter. She has participated on the Committee of Public Relations for the Peruvian American Political Action Committee.

 Jennifer Sneed Jennifer Sneed RC’03, SCILS’03 resides in Newark and is currently the deputy state director in the Office of United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg. She is the past president of the SC&I Alumni Association and during her tenure worked with the Rutgers University Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship at SC&I on behalf of the SC&IAA. For the last two years, Jennifer has served as the chair of the RUAA’s Communications Committee and was previously a member of the Awards and Recognition Committee.

 Daniel Swartley-McArdle Daniel Swartley-McArdle CCAS’09, GSC’12 is a resident of Elmer, NJ and will complete his graduate studies at Rutgers Camden this fall. Daniel has been an active student leader during his six years on the Camden campus. He is currently the graduate student representative to the University’s Board of Trustees and served on the Board of Governor’s Academic Affairs Committee as one of his many roles in the Camden Student Governing Association. Daniel is the founder of Rutgers Bioethics Society and serves on the RUAA’s Reunion Committee. An active community volunteer, Daniel has mentored students in Camden schools and has volunteered as a judge of the annual science fair at a local elementary school.

 Suzy Swartz Suzy Swartz CCAS’85, a resident of Cherry Hill, is business support representative at XPN in Philadelphia, PA. She previously served as regional account executive with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, working in Business Development. She has enjoyed a successful and varied career in sales and marketing, including serving as a senior account executive with WMMR-FM/Greater Media Radio Group. Suzy has been a member of the RUCAA board and currently serves as a member of the RUAA’s Reunion Committee.

 Jennifer McClain Tennant Jennifer Tennant CC’02 is the former president of the Rutgers Club of Southern California, a member of the RUAA Regional Clubs Committee and an at large council member. As club president, she actively plans a number of events each year, participated in the inaugural RUAA Alumni Day of Service, and launched her club’s website and social media pages. She also volunteers at college fairs in Southern California to encourage her state’s residents to attend Rutgers. Jennifer lives in Aliso Viejo, CA and is the Compliance Counsel for Altegrity.

 Chris Tiritilli Christine Tiritilli DC'92 has served as both the vice chair and the corporate secretary of the RUAA and has been a board member since the RUAA was founded in 2008. She was a member of the President’s Task Force on Alumni Relations and instrumental in developing the bylaws and constitution for the RUAA through her role on the Task Force’s Implementation Team. She has previously served as an officer of the Associate Alumnae of Douglass College and was honored by that organization with its Alumnae Recognition Award. Chris is currently Of Counsel at Bendit Weinstock, P.A. and holds a J.D. from the Seton Hall University School of Law.

 Brian Wennersten Brian Wennersten CC’03 is a past president of the Rutgers Club of San Diego and was awarded the Most Improved Club of 2007 while Co-President with fellow RUAA Board member Carlos Dequina. He has served as at-large member of the Alumni Leaders Council since 2009, and has been an integral member of the RUAA’s Regional Clubs Committee since its inception.  Brian founded SKYed, LLC where he teaches real estate, design and construction professionals primarily about (LEED) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Brian is the Chair of the RUAA Regional Clubs Committee.
