Homecoming on the Newark campus kicks-off with a celebration on the Plaza during free period. Take an early lunch hour and join the fun for free soft pretzels, music, t-shirts, giveaways, and more! So don’t just sit at your desk during lunchtime, come out to the Plaza and have some fun!

Jazz Jam Session with Radam Schwartz GSN’12

Legendary jazz musician Billy Eckstine, known for hits such as “Prisoner of Love”, “My Foolish Heart” and “Stormy Monday”, helped shape American popular music both as a bandleader and singer. His big band included jazz luminaries Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, and Sarah Vaughan, and helped popularize swing and bebop. Join author and jazz historian Jeff McMillan GSN’00 as he shares his research on the fabulous “Mr. B.” and reveals little known facts about this noted musician and performer. Following the program, Jazz MA Alumni, current students, faculty, IJS staff, and other friends are invited to Kilkenny's Pub, located at 27 Central Avenue, to continue the conversation over drinks and appetizers!

Start the weekend off right at the Rutgers Alumni Happy Hour! The registration fee includes one drink of your choice; hors d'oeuvres including Kobe beef sliders, calamari, pizza, chicken lollipops, and more; unlimited soft drinks; and a Rutgers martini glass. Happy hour pricing will be in effect all night. Free parking is available after 5:30 p.m. in the lot on the corner of Broad and Atlantic Streets. - The Institute of Jazz Studies, the preeminent jazz archive in the world

- Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament

Unleash your inner child at the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament at Fall Fest! Compete in a test of psychological will and dexterity against fellow alumni, students, and yes, little kids! Elimination rounds will be held on all three Rutgers campuses, with the winners facing off at New Brunswick’s Homecoming on October 27. The winners on each campus will receive a prize pack with Rutgers branded giveaways, two tickets to the Homecoming football game in New Brunswick, and a parking pass for the football game. A grand prize of a Nook Tablet will be awarded to the final tournament winner in New Brunswick. The tournament is open to all ages.

Free on-campus parking is available at University Deck I, 200 University Avenue, or Deck II, 166 Washington Street. Request a free parking coupon from staff at any event. Free parking coupon must be presented when exiting the lot.
