Join alumni, family, friends, and students on the Newark Campus at events featuring everything from athletics, arts and culture, and family-friendly fun, to socializing and networking.

This group of talented and entertaining writers will have you wondering about Pulitzer Prize possibilities! Copies of their books will be available for purchase and signing. Mingle with the writers, other alumni, students, and MFA faculty at a reception featuring light fare.

Homecoming Speaker: Wade Davis Jr.
“GLBT Life in Sports and College Athletics”

Wade Davis Jr. is an activist, educator, writer, and former NFL player working for the Hetrick-Martin Institute, which seeks to empower, educate, and advocate for LGBTQ youth. In 2012, Mr. Davis spoke openly for the first time about being a closeted gay male in the NFL. Mr. Davis has served as an LGBT surrogate for President Obama, attending and speaking at events on his behalf. He will share with the Rutgers-Newark community his personal story and thoughts on gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender attitudes and policies in sports and college athletics.

Take a thirty minute guided tour of the Business School and see what’s changed since you were a student! You’ll visit the trading room, a “smart” classroom, see the environmentally-friendly green roof, and more! Following the tour, guests will walk across Broad Street to the upscale restaurant and lounge Martini 494 for the Alumni Happy Hour. Free attended parking is available in the parking lot at Essex and Orange Streets. Please register for both the Tour and Happy Hour.

It’s our third annual alumni networking social at Martini 494—a great time at a great venue all for a great price! Happy hour pricing will be in effect all night. Free parking is available in the attending parking lot at the corner of Essex and Orange Streets. Super Fall Fest Street Fair

Start your Super Bowl celebration early! Bring your friends and family for a day of free carnival games, music, food, contests, face painting, crafts, giveaways, prizes, photo booth, and much more! Music will be provided by WRNU, your campus radio station. Stop by the red alumni tent with the big “R” to get cool giveaways, sign-up for the tournament, play the trivia game, and meet school and alumni group representatives. Purchase your Rutgers gear at the Barnes & Noble or Scarlet Raiders athletics table. The pay-as-you-go barbeque will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and costs $9.50 per person.

  • Super Animal Adaptations
    12:15 to 1:15 p.m.

    See reptiles, amphibians, insects, and birds up close at this fun and educational program! Find out how wild creatures have adapted to diverse and sometimes hostile environments, and learn about conservation efforts to protect them. Experts from Essex County’s Turtle Back Zoo will conduct the presentation and answer your questions! 

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament
    Register at the alumni tent by 1:15 p.m.
    Tournament starts at 1:30 p.m.

    It’s child’s play at the second annual Homecoming tournament! Win or lose, all tournament participants will receive a fun giveaway. The winners from the Newark, Camden, and New Brunswick campuses will receive a special prize and face off against each other at New Brunswick’s Homecoming on October 26, where they’ll compete for the grand prize and the tournament title! The tournament is open to all ages. Visit the red alumni tent at Super Fall Fest by 1:15 p.m. and register in-person to play!

  • Trivia Game
    So, you think you know a lot? Meet representatives from some of our chartered alumni organizations and receive a special fun giveaway when you correctly answer a trivia question about Rutgers, New Jersey, or the Super Bowl. Participants’ names will be entered in a drawing to receive pairs of tickets to a Rutgers home football game. Come to the red alumni tent with the big “R” and get playing!
